Muirfield Hatchery, sole producer of the Blackrock hen,  has changed ownership. It is now owned by Eddie Lovett and his family. Ty Mynydd farm wishes Peter Siddons a long and enjoyable retirement.

Why is it important to know about Blackrock

  •  There are 5 other breeds on the market, that are the same cross, but not the same genetic strain.
  • We only recommend one other strain when the rock isn't available, which we do supply, but our experience is that 4 of the 5 lookalikes do not perform as well as the rock.
  • Most poultry sellers claim to be selling Blackrock, but even they don't know what strains they are actually selling.
