Why is it important to know about Blackrock
There are 5 other breeds on the market, that are the same cross, but not the same genetic strain.
We only recommend one other strain (Bovans nera) when the rock isn't available, which we do supply, but our experience is that the remaining 4 lookalikes do not perform as well as the rock and Bovans.
Most poultry sellers claim to be selling Blackrock or Bovans, but even they don't know what strains they are actually selling.
